1. Who We Are and Acceptance
Life in the UK Practice (the “app”) and lifeintheukpractice.co.uk (the “website”) are operated by the provider of Life in the UK Practice (“we”, “us” or “our”). You can contact us at support@lifeintheukpractice.co.uk.
By downloading, accessing or using the app or website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website. You must be legally capable of entering into this agreement. If you use the app on behalf of someone else, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.
2. Independent Study Aid
The app provides practice questions, explanations, progress tracking and other study materials to help users prepare for the Life in the UK Test. It is an independent educational product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by or approved by the UK Government, the Home Office or the official Life in the UK Test.
The app does not provide immigration, legal or professional advice. It does not replace the official learning materials or information published by the UK Government. We do not guarantee that any question will appear in the official test, that the app exactly reproduces the official test, or that using the app will result in a pass. You are responsible for checking current official requirements and booking the official test through authorised government channels.
3. Your Right to Use the App
Subject to these Terms and the Apple licence described below, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the app and its content for your own non-commercial study.
You must not:
- copy, publish, sell, sublicense, redistribute or commercially exploit the app or its content;
- share paid access or attempt to bypass advertising, purchase checks, access restrictions or security features;
- scrape, bulk-download or use automated systems to extract questions, explanations or other content;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify or create derivative works from the app, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
- interfere with the app, website, servers or another user’s use of them; or
- use the app or website unlawfully, fraudulently or in a way that infringes another person’s rights.
4. Free Access, Advertising and Paid Options
Some app content or features may be available free of charge and supported by advertising. Advertising may be personalised or non-personalised according to your choices and device settings, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
The app may offer the following optional in-app purchases:
- Yearly subscription: access to the paid features for the subscription period, with advertising removed while the subscription is active. The subscription may begin with a three-day free trial where offered.
- Lifetime unlock: a one-off, non-consumable purchase that unlocks the paid features for as long as we continue to make the app available and technically support that entitlement. “Lifetime” refers to the supported lifetime of the app and does not mean the lifetime of any individual user.
The exact price and currency are displayed by Apple before you confirm a purchase and may vary by country. We will not charge you outside Apple’s purchase process.
5. Free Trial and Automatic Renewal
If a three-day free trial is offered, you will not be charged during the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the yearly subscription will begin automatically and Apple will charge the price shown when you subscribed. Eligibility for a free trial is determined by Apple and a trial may be available only once.
The yearly subscription renews automatically at the end of each subscription period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges your App Store account for renewal in accordance with the terms shown at purchase. If Apple changes the price, Apple will provide any notice or request any consent required by its rules or applicable law.
You can view or cancel your subscription through Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your Apple device. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. After cancellation, paid access normally continues until the end of the period already paid for. You can use “Restore Purchases” in the app to restore an eligible purchase made with the same Apple ID.
6. Billing and Refunds
Apple processes all purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds. We do not receive your payment card details and cannot directly issue an App Store refund. You can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides refund requests under its policies and applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms limits any refund, repair, replacement, price reduction or other remedy to which you are entitled under applicable consumer law.
7. Apple App Store Licence
If you obtain the app through Apple’s App Store, the licence for the app is governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA), which is incorporated by reference. These Terms supplement the Standard EULA by covering our educational content, paid features, advertising, website and relationship with you. Where they address the same issue inconsistently, the Standard EULA controls the licence and use of the iOS app, while mandatory consumer rights always remain unaffected.
Apple is not responsible for the app’s content, maintenance or support except to the extent stated in the Standard EULA or required by law.
8. Intellectual Property
The app, website, design, software, questions, explanations, graphics, branding and other content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms give you permission to use them only as expressly described; they do not transfer ownership to you.
If you send us suggestions or feedback, you allow us to use them without restriction or payment, but you retain ownership of any rights you may have in your original material.
9. Availability, Updates and Changes
We aim to keep the app and website available and accurate, but uninterrupted or error-free operation cannot be guaranteed. Content may become outdated when official guidance or test arrangements change. We may correct content, fix errors, improve security, update features or make reasonable changes to the app.
We may withdraw free features or stop supporting old app or operating-system versions. If we make a change that materially affects a paid entitlement, we will act reasonably and honour any remedy required by applicable consumer law. We are not responsible for unavailability caused by Apple, network providers, device compatibility, maintenance or events reasonably outside our control.
10. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. This does not itself cancel an active subscription; you must cancel it through Apple as described above.
We may suspend or end access where we reasonably believe you have seriously or repeatedly breached these Terms, used the app unlawfully, threatened security, or infringed our or another person’s rights. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. Suspension or termination does not affect rights and obligations that arose beforehand, including your statutory consumer rights.
11. Responsibility and Consumer Rights
We will provide the app with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights relating to digital content and services.
Subject to those protections, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms, for business losses arising from personal use, or for a failed test, missed appointment, immigration decision or other outcome resulting from reliance on the app as a substitute for official information or professional advice.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is collected and used in connection with the app and website. Your use of third-party services, including Apple, Google and advertising providers, may also be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the app, our business, platform requirements or the law. The “Last updated” date shows when they were revised. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide reasonable notice in the app or on the website where practicable. Changes apply prospectively and do not remove rights already accrued.
14. General Legal Terms
If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of that right. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Apple Standard EULA constitute the agreements relevant to your use of the app and website.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you also retain the benefit of any mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence. You may bring proceedings in the courts available to you under applicable consumer law, including the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live.
15. Contact and Complaints
If you have a question, complaint or support request, email support@lifeintheukpractice.co.uk. Please include enough information for us to investigate. We aim to respond within two UK business days.
